CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning the public after an attempted kidnapping in the Lincoln Square neighborhood Monday morning.

The incident happened about 8:15 a.m. near the intersection of Western and Montrose avenues, according to a statement from police News Affairs. A 12-year-old girl was walking when a man driving a white or gray four-door sedan approached her. The driver then spoke to the girl and attempted to lure her into his vehicle, police said.

The girl was able to run away from the suspect safely, police said.

The suspect was described as an Asian man, about 30 to 35 years old, who spoke with an accent and had short dark hair, police added.
