Firefighter injured while fighting house fire

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -
A Dallas firefighter was injured while fighting a 2-alarm house fire.

Just before 7 O'clock Saturday, Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the 4700 block of Chilton Drive in the Buckner Terrace neighborhood in Southeast Dallas.

When firefighters first arrived on the scene, they could see heavy smoke coming from the roof in the back of the one-story home.

The fire quickly broke through the roof, and a second alarm was called.

Firefighters had been fighting the fire from inside the home, then just as the order was given for firefighters to move outside, one of the firefighters was hurt.  He had unspecified burns on his body and was taken to Parkland Hospital in serious condition.

Three people inside the home were able to get out safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  FOX 4 has not yet obtained the injured firefighter's name, rank or tenure with the department.
