Fire quickly spreads in Union City

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A large and fast-moving fire fire destroyed one building in Union City, New Jersey before spreading to five others in an early morning blaze.

The flames broke out in the Hudson County town at about 1: 45 a.m.and quickly grew to five alarms. A sheriff's officer was reportedly in the area when he spotted the fire at 201 New York Ave. at 2nd St. and called it in.

As many as six buildings including a deli were damaged by the fire. 

There were no reports of serious injuries. As many as 50 people were displaced, according to North Hudson Regional Fire officials.

The impacted buildings were mainly residential units.

The fire raged for several hours before it was brought under control.

It is not clear what sparked the fire in the densely populated town.
