Fire destroys Cockrell Hill home

Posted: Updated:
COCKRELL HILL, Texas - Heavy winds fanned the flames of a fire in Cockrell Hill, the tiny city surrounded by West Dallas.

No one was in the home in the 3800 block of Dempster Avenue when the fire began around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Cockrell Hill firefighters had to call for help from Dallas Fire Rescue as the flames and embers threatened other homes.

They were able to contain the blaze, but the home was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
