Lack of report on alleged rape being investigated

Posted: Updated:
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Pinal County sheriff's detectives are investigating whether an abortion clinic failed to make a required report to law enforcement on a sexual assault allegedly involving an 18-year-old man accused of multiple rapes.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports that a Sheriff's Office report says a pregnant girl's mother reportedly told a Planned Parenthood worker that the girl was raped.

According to the report, the counselor allegedly miscoded the daughter's sexual activity as consensual to avoid having to report an assault.

Planned Parenthood Arizona says it strives to comply with the state law requiring reports on sexual assaults and that it is trying to get more information on what happened at the clinic.

Sheriff's spokesman Tim Gaffney says the clinic incident is part of its continuing investigation involving 18-year-old Tyler Kost.
