5 kids rescued from swollen creek in Dallas

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS - Several kids had to be rescued from swift rising water in Dallas on Thursday morning.

Dallas Fire Rescue got a call to help the children around 10:30 a.m., just as a round of thunderstorms moved through North Texas.

The kids were caught in a creek in the 300 block of Glen Oaks Boulevard, which is just southwest of Interstate 35 and Ledbetter Drive.

All five children were accounted for and the last child was taken out of the water about 11:30 a.m.

Police believe the teens were playing near a drainage tunnel by the creek and got swept into the creek by the high water.

Police said they think the teens were skipping school.
