The Atlanta Falcons selected Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews with the No. 6 pick in the first round of the opening night of the 2014 NFL Draft. Matthews was a four-year starter for the Aggies and a two-time all-SEC player.
At the NFL combine, he measured 6-foot-5-inches tall and weighed in at 308 pounds. He clocked a 5.07 40-yard-dash and benched 225 pounds 24 times.
Matthews is the son of "Hall of Fame" NFL lineman Bruce Matthews.
The Falcons also have the 37th pick (second round), the 68th pick (third round), and two picks in the fourth round (103 and 139). They also pick in the fifth round (147), sixth round (182), and have three picks in the seventh (220, 253 and 255).
Second and third round coverage of the draft starts Friday at 6:30 p.m. Rounds 4-7 will start Saturday at noon.
