NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Grief counselors were on hand Monday at Farmingdale High School after five students died in a car crash over the weekend.

The collision occurred early Saturday morning when their car, traveling on Conklin St. in Farmingdale, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit an SUV operated by a 53-year-old man.

The names of the victims were released by Nassau County Police.  The teens were identified as Tristan K. Reichle, 17, of Farmingdale, Jesse J, Romero, 18, of South Farmingdale, Carly Lonborg, 14, of South Farmingdale, Noah Francis, 15, of Farmingdale, and Cody Talanian, 17, of Farmingdale, who died  at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday at Nassau University Medical Center.

Two people in the other vehicle were seriously injured.  Their identities were not released.

Ariel Mejia, Jesse Romero’s uncle, was in shock on Sunday.

“He was a great kid.. basketball player... real nice kid,” Majia said.

A prayer vigil was attended by more than a thousand people Sunday night at the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church.

This story has been updated to correct the name of Noah Francis. Police originally released a wrong last name.
