Posted: Updated:
Camden, N.J.- An emotional scene outside a home on the 400 block of  North 41st Street in Camden.

Family and friends gathered to after learning their loved one,  41- year old Fatima Perez was murdered.

"She was wonderful. She was a wonderful mother and sister," said Elizabeth Montes, the victim's sister-in-law. Family reported Perez missing on Monday.

"It's horrible. We've never had to deal with anything like this before ever. Never would think that something like this would happen to us," said Montes. She says family and friends were holding out hope until they got the devastating news.

"We unfortunately located the body of Fatima Perez in a shallow grave off Clayton Avenue in Williamstown in Monroe Township New Jersey," said Camden County Prosecutor William Faulk.
Investigators say Perez died of asphyxiation. They believe she was kidnapped in Camden.

"At this point there's no evidence to indicate she was killed at the scene where her body was found," said Prosecutor Faulk. Family members believe Perez was killed over money.  But police say they're looking at several possible motives.

"That's not a detail we can release at this time. It's part of an ongoing investigation," said Prosecutor Faulk. Police have two people in custody. They're calling them persons of interest. No charges have been filed.
