Video encourages people to "Look Up"

Posted: Updated:
One of the latest videos going viral online actually encourages people to stop watching it.

Director Gary Turk calls "Look Up" a "lesson taught to us through a love story, in a world where we continue to find ways to make it easier for us to connect to one another, but always results in us spending more time alone."

In the five-minute video, he says our society has become one of dumb people with smart phones.

He encourages people to turn off their mobile devices before they miss all the wonderful things happening all around them.

"So look up from your phones, shut down the display. Take in your surroundings, make the most of the day. Just one real connection is all it can take to show you the difference that being there can make," he says.

The clip has been viewed on YouTube and praised by millions of people. But some have criticized it for describing "a wonderland where everyone is friendly, welcoming and pleased to see you."
