Accused caregiver turns herself in to police

CELINA, Texas - The woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a family in Celina has turned herself in to police.

Kenyee Bynum, 34, was charged with credit card abuse. Her bond was set at $3,500.

Bruce Campbell said he hired Bynum to help with his wife Laura, who has ALS and needs constant care.

But just six weeks after she started, Campbell said he noticed discrepancies in his bank statement and got a statement for a credit card he never applied for.

He turned to police for help.

Court papers show, “In addition to the stolen card, two stolen checkbooks and a Bank of America bank statement belonging to Bruce and Laura were seized from the suspect’s car.”

Campbell said he regrets not running a background check on Bynum. She has been arrested for  theft in the past.

“To trust someone to come in and care for my wife and then do something like this is just deplorable,” he said. “I can't…I have no words to describe the anger.”

Bynum is expected to bond out of jail before the weekend.

Her attorney said he would release a statement to FOX 4 later in the afternoon.
