Hometown Hero: Readers 2 Leaders

Posted: Updated:
The Dallas non-profit Readers 2 Leaders is helping change young lives in west Dallas.  Trained volunteers are in five elementary schools, helping first and second graders with their reading and comprehension skills.

The one-on-one reading time also helps give youngsters confidence.

Fran Tynan lives in west Dallas and says she can't think of a better way to help her neighborhood than being a Readers 2 Leaders volunteer. She spends two hours a week helping first and second graders at Sidney Lanier Elementary School.

Folks don't have to live in west Dallas to become a volunteer -- they just need to want to help children succeed in life. To get information about being a volunteer, log on to www.readers2leaders.org.
