More lanes planned for crowded Dallas North Tollway

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS - Relief is coming for commuters who pay for the privilege of being stuck in traffic on the Dallas North Tollway.

The North Texas Tollway Authority announced more lanes will be added to the crowded parts of the tollway.

The project includes a fourth lane in each direction between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike, as well as some changes to the PGBT interchange.

Another lane will be added southbound from the PGBT to Belt Line Road and an existing fourth lane will be extended northbound from the Trinity Mills Road exit ramp to the PGBT.

Crews will also improve the pavement surface, restripe and move light poles away from the center median.

Construction on the $250 million project will start next year and is expected to last through 2017.
