MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

The 1-year-old boy doctors described as a "miracle baby" after he survived an 11-story fall from the Riverside Plaza apartment building in Minneapolis could be released from the hospital as soon as Friday, a family spokesperson said.

The 15-month-old's speedy recovery is incredible, and his story has been featured everywhere from People Magazine to the Daily Telegraph in Britain. Closer to home, however, a community is ready to welcome back one of their own.

Musa Dayib apparently slipped through the railing on the balcony and fell onto to a small patch of mulch on the ground, narrowly missing both the sidewalk and a generator by inches. Although it's only been a week and a half since he took that tumble, friends and family say he is laughing, watching cartoons and is "perfect."

The boy's pediatrician at HCMC told Fox 9 that he suffered a number of injuries, including a broken back, broken arms and broken ribs. The boy also suffered a concussion and bruises to his heart and lungs. On Thursday, however, neighbor and community activist Abdi Bihi announced the boy is no longer in a coma and no longer needs machines to help him breathe.

Musa was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, but has since improved to satisfactory condition. Although he still has casts on both arms and other parts of his body, doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
