Teen father killed playing 'shopping cart game' at lake

Posted: Updated:

ARTERSVILLE, Ga. - 18-year-old Chance Werner was with friends on Lake Allatoona in the early morning hours on Sunday when a good time-went terribly wrong.

Werner, a father of a seven month old baby, was playing a water game, called the 'shopping cart game,' with friends.

A spokesperson for DNR tells us that they were tying a shopping cart to a tree then pushing the cart into the water.

Police believe, at some point- they decided to use the six foot large framed Werner as the anchor and tied the rope to his belt instead of the tree.

Werner was dragged into the water. His body found a couple of hours later-still tied to the shopping cart.

While Werner's family tries to understand how this happened they are filled with memories, and now trying to comprehend a senseless loss.
