Wild, multi-county chase ends with crash in Dallas

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS - A driver was arrested after a high-speed chase that started in Henderson County and ended with a crash in Dallas.

Police first tried to pull the truck over in Athens around 10 p.m. Tuesday, but the driver wouldn't stop.

Officers from several counties followed him into southeast Dallas.

At one point two people inside the truck jumped out and ran off.

Twice the driver stopped and tried to steal other cars, but he ended up back in the truck.

He eventually crashed into a teen driver near Highway 175 and Belt Line Road in Dallas.

"I was at my girlfriend's house just heading home," said Colton Suire, who was hit. "I rolled a few times. The next thing you know I'm upside down in the car."

No one was seriously hurt.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Derek Palmer, was arrested.

The two others that jumped out of the truck are still on the run.
