FRESNO, Calif. -

Joe Cornell found an orange bag in the middle of the street.

"I was watering my plants and my trees when an armored car stopped right here on the corner,” he said. “I thought it was kind of strange [when] another car pulled up alongside yelling at him, ‘Hey! You dropped something.’ But the armored car kept going.”

When he opened the bag, it was full of money. How much? $125,000!

At that point, Cornell had a tough decision to make: take it or turn it in.

He said, "What kind of man do I want my grandkids to think I am? So my grandkids were on my mind and I want them to think I'm a just man, that I do the right thing.”

Cornell picked up the bag and brought it to his trailer and called his boss.

“I think they thought I was kidding and they said bring it down,” said Cornell.

Cornell then called the police and they interviewed him about what happened.

"He told me you're about one in a million,” Cornell said. “Not everybody would have turned that in.”

The Good Samaritan volunteers for the Salvation Army and is in their rehabilitation program.

"I'm trying to get my life together, so I want them to be proud of me,” he said. “I decided to do the right thing."

It was commuter confusion out on Interstate 66 Monday morning. Drivers heading eastbound towards Washington D.C. wound up seeing their traffic lanes suddenly turn into a mess. Lane stripes somehow pulled away from the road surface and created a mess of tangled tape and lanes that didn't make sense.
