Good Samaritan Donates Wheelchair To Two-Legged Chihuahua

Posted: Updated:
Muncie, IN- A two-legged dog isn't letting his physical challenge slow him down.

Bouncing from one corner to another, 5-month-old Sonny doesn`t know any better.

“From the get-go, he was just rambunctious. Ready to go. Full force. Nothing would hold him back,” said Sonny’s owner, Kelley Stewart.

He was one of four Chihuahua`s born without two front legs, and you can see, he still manages to get around.

"He hops, quite a bit, yeah he'll hop," said Stewart.

However, Stewart says all that hopping is dangerous.

According to Stewart, it puts a lot of pressure on his chest and nubs, and that can one day lead to serious injuries.

Sonny was in desperate need of a wheelchair.

His story caught national attention, and the heart of a generous donor who paid for a brand new wheelchair.

“A lady in Florida, her name is Susan, her husband passed away a year ago, and since then she was just in limbo,” said Stewart."She saw the story and she wanted to help in memory of her husband.”

But now, he’s getting the hang of it.

“When he doesn’t have his wheels on, he`s rowdy. but with the wheels, he`s a lot quicker,” she said.

Quicker, happier, and now on a path to a healthier life.

“Animals like him get tossed aside, put to sleep, and to me it’s just, it’s a statement that you know what they’re still valuable and he’s obviously full of life. He’s got a lot of love to give,” said Stewart.

Sonny's sister Maggie is also getting a wheelchair. Same story, somebody saw that she needed one and also donated a brand new wheelchair.
