Queens teacher accused of sexually abusing another student

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A day after a teacher at a school in Queens was arraigned on charges of repeatedly raping a teenaged student, the same teacher was arrested again on similar accusations, the Queens DA said.

Authorities charged Joy Morsi, 39, of Massapequa, Long Island, with with sexually abusing a second 16-year-old boy at Grover Cleveland High School on May 31, 2014. The age of consent in New York is 17.

A judge ordered Morsi, who is married to another teacher at the same school, held on $25,000 bail, the DA said.

"These are serious accusations in which a school teacher -- who should serve as a role model to students -- is instead accused of using her position to gain access to children for her own gratification," District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.

Morsi also faces charged of having a sexual affair with a different student dating back to 2013, officials said. The New York Post reported that in that case, Morsi had sex with the boy more than a dozen times in and out of school before breaking it off a few weeks ago because he took a girl to the prom.

Morsi is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual act and one count of endangering the welfare of a child in the latest case and 20 counts of third-degree rape, 20 counts of third-degree criminal sexual act, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child in the first case.

Mayor Bill de Blasio won't be reimbursing the city for personal travels that involve his security detail. "We have followed the conflict of interest board guidelines. I am following their guidelines to the letter," said de Blasio. The mayor has been heavily criticized for not paying the city back for travel expenses. Attention around the issue started last week when de Blasio was spotted not paying for a subway ride to Barclays Center while on official business.
