6-Year-Old Honored For Memorial Day Weekend Heroics

Posted: Updated:

PALM BAY, FL- This is a typical Thursday night at city hall in Palm Bay, but this is not your average city council meeting.

"As a mayor I'm honored that I can recognize a young man for something so heroic that he did," begins Mayor William Capote.

That young man is six-year-old Romeo Rodriguez who saved his friend Cathy from drowning in a pool during a Memorial Day weekend party.

"I yelled for help," explains Romeo.

"He notified everybody. If it wasn't for him being so observant it could have turned out 100 different ways," added Palm Bay Police Officer Amy Revis.

Officer Revis happened to be patrolling the neighborhood with a portable defibrillator in her car.

A nurse at the party performed CPR after another adult pulled Cathy from the pool, all thanks to Romeo yelling for help.

"Everything aligned perfectly to get this done and now she's perfect," said Officer Revis.

And a perfect tribute to a six-year-old hero on Thursday night in Palm Bay.
