Parents Outraged By Embarrassing Sex Education Class
SAN MARCOS, CA -
Parents of one California Middle School Student are outraged after learning about the school’s sex education class.
A San Marcos family says their daughter was asked by her teacher how far she was willing to go sexually during class. The 14-year-old says every kid in the class was asked this question and felt very embarrassed after the fact.
“I was furious because my daughter was embarrassed,” the teen’s mother says.
The parents say the teacher told the students to stand under signs labeled: “SMILE,” “HUG,” “KISS,” “ABOVE THE WAIST,” “BELOW THE WAIST,” AND “ALL THE WAY.”
The school says the purpose of the exercise is to open communication between students and parents about their dating expectations.
“Every parent has a different age for children to date, and I think it’s something that needs to be taught at home from parents.”
The parents say the students were in disbelief over the whole situation and thought the teacher wanted to do how far they’ve already gone sexually.
“For the children to get that confused, is just another reason why it shouldn’t even be in the schools,” says the girl’s father. “Pointing the kids out in front of their peers is definitely not something that needs to be done in school or anywhere.”
According to the school’s principal, the lesson came from a community clinic and has been used over the past several years. The school also says parents sign a permission slip for the class at the beginning of the year and are able to look up the curriculum ahead of time.
