Videos by Adele, other artists may vanish from YouTube

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

If you love Adele, you only have a few more days to see and hear her on YouTube.

The site is starting a music subscription service. Several artists, including Adele and the Arctic Monkeys, don't like the new financial contract terms. So they're not signing on unless they get a better deal. As a result, YouTube will begin blocking their music videos. However, YouTube says record labels representing 95 percent of the music industry have agreed to the new terms.

New York Post music critic Hardeep Phull says Adele and the other holdouts likely will be the losers in this fight. He says those artists will eventually buckle.

Music subscription services are a fast-growing market. Last week, Amazon launched its own service. Last month, Apple bought Beats Music.

With YouTube, this is how it will work: if you're willing to pay a monthly fee, you'll be able to watch videos or listen to music without advertisements on any of your devices.

But Phull is skeptical that consumers will be willing to pay to listen to music on YouTube.

YouTube says it will begin offering its subscription service to users sometime this summer.
