PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A Phoenix attorney says plans for a live camera that will show his client living in jail 24-7 is moving forward.

His client is Mickey the pit bull -- a dog that was surrounded by a firestorm of controversy three months ago.

Not your usual client-attorney relationship or meeting.

Attorney John Schill represented Mickey in a vicious dog petition that sought to end the animal's life.

Last March, a Phoenix judge ruled instead that Mickey could live at Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's MASH unit for abused animals.

Mickey's cell is in the converted jail and there are 39 other animals there.

Every Wednesday, Schill visits his client at the MASH unit in downtown Phoenix.  He always brings a treat or two.

But last February 20, when 4-year-old victim Kevin Vicente picked up Mickey's bone in a Phoenix yard -- Mickey bit the boy, severely injuring him.

We don't know where Kevin is now, but his injuries -- a broken jaw, a broken eye socket -- were severe and life altering.

"I feel tremendously bad for what happened to Kevin, but Mickey's my client and I have a duty to Mickey to make sure he complies to the court order and that he lives out his life the best I can help him with," said Schill.

Mickey's supporters who rallied to save his life are still providing for him -- buying an agility course for the MASH unit and looking forward to the day when Mickey Cam goes live.

The plan is to provide a live video feed of what Mickey is doing 24-7.

"Everybody will be able to check in on the Mickster see that he's happy, he's well fed as the sheriff said, he gets good food," said Schill.
