NORTHVILLE, Mich. (AP) -- The cremated remains of 59 people that have sat unclaimed for years will be given a final resting place during a ceremony at a suburban Detroit cemetery.

The Detroit News reports remains include those of people who died from 1934 through 2006. The 11 a.m. Friday ceremony is at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.

L.J. Griffin Funeral Home inherited the remains when it bought the Northrop-Sassaman Chapel. The funeral home is covering the cost of a grave site, a burial vault and a monument that will list names.

Meanwhile, MLive.com reports a coalition has created a list including 146 of about 200 bodies that have gone unclaimed at the Wayne County medical examiner's office. The Jewish Fund and some area funeral homes plan burials at no cost to families.
