Gas Station Robbed 5 Times This Year Alone

Posted: Updated:
West Orange, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

A string of gas station robberies have been happening all across Northern New Jersey. The most recent one took place at a Delta in West Orange and was caught on tape. In the surveillance footage you can see the gas station attendant being attacked from behind, there was a struggle between him and the thug where the attendant even threw something at him, but then the attacker shoots the attendant and riffles through his pockets to get the cash before running away. Then the injured attendant staggers out of the video.

Igor Revko is the owner of the Delta station. He said that his employee just got out of the hospital and is doing okay, but doctors weren’t able to do surgery because the location of the bullet would have made that procedure life-threatening

“The doctors say he is lucky and the bullet was left in his body,” Revko explained.

This particular station has been robbed five-times in 2014 alone and it’s a common occurrence among many gas stations in the area. He also said that the attendant actually violated his policy by fighting back.

“My employee, he broke first rule, don’t fight with the guy who’s trying to rob you,” Revko said.

Revko confirmed that he has to continue what he does and that he can’t afford to make changes like close early or not carry cash.

Police are still looking for the suspect from the video.

Atlantic City has been struggling. The Showboat and Trump Plaza Casinos are both scheduled to close next month and Mayor Don Guardian says that the city needs to figure out a way to change things if it wants to survive, but he said it’s not dead yet! “So Atlantic City may be 15 years after Vegas and I realized that it’s not all about casinos, it’s about the overall experience of coming to resorts,” he said.
