PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -

Pennsauken Police say a student was slashed in the face on a school bus after classes at Pennsauken High School around 2 p.m. on Thursday.

The student that was slashed in the face is at Cooper Hospital. Authorities say she’s expected to be OK.

"The bus does have video. We reviewed the video. No words were exchanged. The girl was just standing; the other girl walked on and just sliced her as she went past,” said Pennsauken Police Lt. Michael Probasco.

Police say a 16-year-old female student slashed a 15-year-old student across the face with an unknown weapon.

A police officer was near the school bus at the time of the incident and took the accused attacker into custody.  The police department says they have an officer stationed at the school as the last day approaches as a precaution.

No word on what led to the incident. Police say they are looking for a weapon, they say, it could be as small as a razor or the size of a box cutter.

Authorities say the accused attacker is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon on school grounds. According to authorities, the teen will be transferred to the Camden County Youth Detention Center.
