We take on the race for Detroit Mayor and the controversial comments by Detroit's EM calling Detroiters "dumb, lazy, happy and rich."
A new poll shows Mike Duggan leading in the race for Detroit Mayor. Could those dirty tricks against him actually be paying off in his favor? Duggan supporter and community activist Malik Shabazz thinks

On this edition, the fight over abortion insurance once again takes center stage as state Democrats launch a new effort to repeal the controversial law.  Enacted late last year, the measure took effect earlier this year and requires women to purchase a separate insurance rider for abortion.  There is no exception for rape or incest.  State Rep. Sarah Roberts (D-St. Clair Shores) thinks the law discriminates against women and may inadvertently affect women who have miscarriages.  But former State Rep. Shanelle Jackson (now a candidate for State Senate) thinks the law is fine the way it is for people who don't want to pay for another person's abortion.

Next, we take a look at a "shocking" proposal by a Detroit business owner to install an electrified fence around the HVAC units at the Tower Center Mall and his other properties.  Herb Strather says scrap metal thieves have cost him nearly $3 million dollars over the past few years and thinks zapping them with high voltage is the only way to teach them a lesson.  But could it also kill them?  We put that question to Mr. Strather and his Executive Director John Cromer.

Finally, we host a debate about the state's policy of automatically prosecuting 17 year old defendants as adults.  Michigan is one of only 10 states to do so.  Kristen Staley with the Michigan Council on Crime and Delinquency co-authored a report called "Youth Behind Bars."  It says the law irreparably harms juvenile offenders and makes them more likely to become career criminals.  But State Sen. Rick Jones (R-Grand Ledge) says hardcore murderers, rapists and thieves belong behind bars, no matter how old they are.
