Heavy rains cause flooding in northeast Hood County

Posted: Updated:
GRANBURY, Texas - The Hood County Sheriff’s Office says Granbury residents are lucky after several hours worth of rain was dumped on Granbury from early Sunday morning into the afternoon hours.

Sheriff Roger Deeds says luckily there were no injuries but there were a lot of close calls.

Two different subdivisions in Granbury had to be evacuated because of flood waters.  A total of ten homes and 36 people in the Sunchase Acres and Quail Run subdivisions had to be evacuated.  Two of those homes could only be accessed by boat.

Hood County Fire Marshal, Ray Wilson says the American Red Cross is helping house four families, a total of 18 people, for the night.  He says there are reports of some homes being flooded and even pushed off of their foundations.  Damage assessments in the county will start on Monday

FOX 4 viewers sent in pictures and video showing rushing water going past their homes.  From Sky 4 Sunday afternoon, residents could be seen walking through water that was in some cases up to their knees.
