It was a story that rocked Johnson County a few years ago. A teenager attacked his mother with a baseball bat, leaving her in critical condition. FOX 4's Heather Hays has an update.
In October of 2009 police got a frantic call from a young woman in rural Johnson County. She said her brother was beating her mother with a baseball bat.
"She was in the other room, heard the disturbance, came out and discovered the mother on the floor," said Lt. Tim Jones with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
Donna Trout, 51, was severely injured.
Lt. Jones said her son, 17-year-old Conner Troutt, took off after the attack. He drove through Burleson and into Fort Worth, crashing into several cars along the way.
He wrecked out at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Loop 820 and then jumped out.
"He tried to run. He got hit by a vehicle and was transported to JPS," Jones said.
Conner's injuries were minor, but his mother suffered a serious head injury.
FOX 4 wasn't able to reach her for an update, but records show she still lives in North Texas.
Conner was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 40 years in prison. He will not be eligible for parole until 2029.
