Family wants answers after man dies in cop-involved shooting

Posted: Updated:
The family of a man who was shot and killed during an argument is frustrated that no one has been arrested.

Investigators say an off-duty Arlington police officer shot and killed 45-year-old Juan May shortly after midnight on Sunday. The officer was a part of a celebration and was on a party bus. When the bus let out at a Duncanville Pappadeax, investigators say a heated argument turned deadly.

May’s family, who flew in from Louisiana, is having a hard time moving forward with so many unanswered questions.

“My child did not deserve this,” said May’s mother, Linda. “My child is dead. I can't even begin to tell you what that feels like.”

Police are not identifying the officer, saying witnesses are still being interviewed. Investigators will only say he is on paid routine leave and that there is an ongoing criminal and administrative investigation.

“I just want some answers to give me some closure as to why my child is dead,” said Linda.
