We are just hours away from the first Metro train to roll on the Silver Line. Metro isn’t the only one counting down until this service begins at noon Saturday. When it happens, Tysons Corner Center and area businesses nearby are hoping to expand with a lot more profit.

After nearly a decade, the wait is just about over. On Saturday, Phase 1 of the much anticipated Silver Line will start running. But perhaps the most important job is the person who will be behind the controls of the inaugural train.

WASHINGTON - July 26 is in sight, and that means Metro's launch of Silver Line is just around the corner.  One day after making the official announcement, Metro has released three new ads aimed at potential Silver Line riders.

The new ads will begin airing later this week, and they encourage riders to "look alive," because "good times are ahead."  Metro gets creative in their spots, pointing out that the new line will bring access to entertainment, shopping and employment without traffic hassles or parking and gas expenses.

The ad titled "Meet John" features a single man named John (and his cat)-- who is about to have more options with the addition of the new line.  "John's dating pool will double.  Maybe then... he'll meet that special someone. Look alive John, good times are ahead!" the ad says.  Two other ads feature a family (the Andersons) who will soon be able to travel further without traffic, and a woman (Donna) who will have more job options when the new line opens.

The Silver Line will run from Wiehle-Reston East station in Virginia to Largo Town Center in Maryland, with stops all through downtown D.C.  The first phase-- which opens July 26-- includes five new stations on an 11-mile extension of the Metrorail system, and a second phase will eventually go from Washington-Dulles International Airport west to Ashburn.

Along with the ads, Metro launched a new website, silverlinemetro.com, which gives detailed info on the five new stations, parking and biking, fares and local points of interest.
