Reports: Tyson Chandler back to Mavericks in trade

Posted: Updated:
Tyson Chandler is likely to return to Dallas as the Mavericks are close to completing a deal for the center with the New York Knicks.

Chandler was considered a key part of the Mavericks’ 2011 NBA title team, but Dallas let the center go in free agency the summer after the championship.

The deal, reported by multiple media outlets, would send Chandler and Raymond Felton to Dallas.

In return, Dallas would send to New York guards Jose Calderon, Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington and center Samuel Dalembert. Dallas would also send the Knicks their two second round draft picks in Thursday’s 2014 NBA Draft.

Dallas is looking to toughen its defense after it was eliminated by San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs this season. New York is looking to shed salary cap obligations under new president Phil Jackson.
