Loved ones remember girl who died after falling from car

Posted: Updated:
Mourners packed a chapel on Tuesday for the funeral services for a girl who died after falling from a moving car in Crowley.

They gathered to remember the life of 12-year-old Octavia Watkins, who died last week after suffering a head injury when she fell off the car.

Watkins’ family planned her service with music and dance, two of her favorite things.

In a chapel overflowing with loved ones, her uncle reminisced about the good times and wrote a poem to honor her.

Watkins and three other children slipped off the trunk of the car, driven by their mom's friend, Kisha Young.

Police arrested Young and charged her with drunk driving and intoxication assault.

Watkins’ mom, Yasmin Robles, has not been charged.

Police say Robles and Young told the kids to ride outside the car because they were wet from the pool.

The other children received bumps and bruises.

Watkins’ family donated her organs before removing her from life support.
