Funeral Held For Brendan Tevlin While Investigation Continues

Posted: Updated:
Livingston, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Yesterday the funeral was held for Brendan Tevlin, the 19 year-old college student who was found shot in his parents SUV in an apartment complex in West Orange, New Jersey.

The mass was held at St. Philomena’s church in Livingston, the town where Tevlin grew up. All of Tevlin’s sacraments were made at this church where he also served as a Eucharistic minister.

Throughout the ceremony Tevlin’s siblings spoke of their brother. His sister even said that Brendan lived everyday as if he were going to die tomorrow.

Taylor Everett attended middle school with Tevlin and she said that she avoids that specific intersection where Tevlin was killed.

“I take a night class at NJIT and the way my parents wanted me to come home was to take Northfield Avenue and I would go right past that intersection, so my parents are just relieved that I chose to take my daytime route home,” she said.

In terms of the investigation police are at a stand-still. The prosecutor’s office is still trying to identify the two individuals that were seen in the surveillance images released earlier this week.

Private Investigator Joseph Giacalone has been following this case very closely and he chimed in to discuss where he thinks this investigation is going.

“The victimology by the police when they conduct these kinds of investigations become very important where you try to get to know who your victim was, you know who their friends were, what they like to hang out with, and if they held any secrets. Ya know a lot of times people hold secrets and they don’t want anyone else to know about it,” he said.

People are encouraged to call 877-847-7432 if they have any information as to the persons responsible for this horrible crime. A $25,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
