Officials Investigate Tour Bus Fires In Old City

Old City -

Fire Officials are investigating a fire involving two tour busses in Old City. The incident happened around 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

It is unclear how the fire started, but it appears the bus went up in flames and the fire spread to the second vehicle.

The two tour buses, which were carrying crews for the bands Styx and Foreigner are most likely a total loss after today's fire.

The bands were scheduled to perform tomorrow night  at the Susquehanna Bank Center.

However, despite the fire, as they say in show biz, 'the show must go on.'

A charred burned out shell is all that’s left of the tour bus that's carried some of music's biggest names, including the Dave Matthews band and others.

"Oh, it went real fast," said tour bus driver Dave Kreitz.

Kreitz spent the day cleaning up. He could only watch as his bus burned.

"It was hard to get to because we couldn't get some of the compartments unlocked because the electrical locks went,” he said.

Heavy toxic smoke poured from one tour bus in a parking lot near 2nd and Callowhill. The fire also damaged a second bus parked feet away.

The groups themselves were still in New York at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt.

The cause is still under investigation, but it's believed to be an accident.

Styx’s tour manager, who happens to live in the area, tells Fox 29 the band has secured a new tour bus.

They'll be arriving tomorrow. Foreigner's tour managers' joked around tonight saying, the "Soundtrack of Summer" tour is officially on fire.
