Obama Calls U.S. Soccer's Dempsey, Howard To Show Gratitude

Posted: Updated:
Washington, DC -

President Obama makes plenty of phone calls throughout the week.

However, the one he placed earlier this week to United States Soccer Stars Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard has made its way to YouTube.

The President called to both thank and congratulate the duo for their efforts in representing the United States in the World Cup in Brazil.

President Obama tells them how proud they made their country, and gives them kudos for the way they captured the hearts and focus of the whole country, while carrying themselves with class.

Obama tells Dempsey he was great, and tells Howard he may have to "shave his beard" in order to avoid being mobbed by thankful fans.

The players assured Obama the honor was theirs in representing their country.
