PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A suspect with what the Department of Public Safety calls a lengthy criminal past rammed an officer's squad car Monday morning and eventually look off from the scene on foot.

This all started on Interstate 17 near Thomas Road around 6 a.m.  A DPS officer pulled 23-year-old George Glockner over for having a suspended license plate.  That's when authorities say he rammed the patrol car.

The officer opened fire, but Glockner got away.  His wrecked truck was found later near McDowell adn 26th Avenue.

An employee spotted Glockner hiding in a warehouse.

"I just walked right here. I pretty much stopped right here and said, ugh," said Matt Tom.

Tom said he was checking on a fence in the back of the Toyota industrial warehouse where he works around 9 a.m. when out of the forklift area came the very man police were searching for all morning long.

"He was terrified.. terrified.. he was scared of me too," said Tom.

Glockner was taken into custody a short time later.

"I was actually on the other side trying to get in and came over here and they said, nah, you're not going past buddy,"said Tom.

The entire area was evacuated.  SWAT was called in when Glockner was seen near the warehouse.

Investigators believe the suspect wedged in and hid behind an air compressor until he ran into Tom, who ran to his boss.

"He just offered it to me, like hey man, 'I'll give you money if you let me use your phone,' I'm like nope.. I just walked back into the building."

Both the employee and Phoenix police believe when the suspect fled the forklift area, he ran across a side driveway through an unlocked gate.

"He fought with us, but we got him into custody," said a DPS' Bart Graves.

DPS says Glockner was pulled out of a parked car and arrested.

Tom, in the meantime, is glad he paid attention to the suspect description police gave.

Glockner will likely face a number of charges.

The DPS officer involved in the initial stop is being checked out for neck and shoulder injuries, but is expected to be okay.
