MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Storms from the Dakotas pushed east across Minnesota, pummeling the Twin Cities metro with rain and hail Monday evening. Ping pong ball size hail was reported in Shakopee, Minn. as the storm hit around 6 p.m. VIEW PHOTOS

FLASH FLOODING

The storm hit the heart of the Twin Cities just in time to cause flash flooding during the Monday evening commute. Flash flooding closed multiple lanes of eastbound Interstate 494 at Penn Avenue just after 7 p.m.



POWER OUTAGES

More than 16,000 people lost power in the Twin Cities metro, according to Xcel Energy. The largest clusters of outages were reported in  Bloomington, St. Louis Park and South St. Paul.
