Self-serve beer machines debut at Minnesota Twins ballpark

Forget the soda. Target Field now has a first of its kind self-serve beer station.

The self-serve kiosk made its debut on Sunday at the home of baseball’s Minnesota Twins. A second kiosk is expected to be operational in time for Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game next week.

The Star-Tribune said it’s believed the self-serve stations are the first at any major North American sports venue.

Fans still have to show ID to a cashier who then gives them a vending card worth $10 or $20. Then the person can choose from four beers, which are sold by the ounce. Customers can pour 48 ounces every 15 minutes.

The choices: Budweiser and Bud Light at 38 cents per ounce, Shock Top Lemon Shandy and Goose Island 312 Urban Pale Ale at 40 cents per ounce.
