Woman found dead in car trunk in Gary identified

GARY, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A woman who was found stabbed to death in the trunk of a car in Gary on Monday has been identified.

Gary Police Chief Wade Ingram Jr. said police got a call Monday afternoon about an abandoned car on a gravel road behind New Nazareth Baptist Church, 1626 E. 21st Ave. in Gary.

Officers opened the trunk and discovered the decomposed body of a woman, according to police.

The woman was identified as DeCarol Deloney-Cain, 54, of Crown Point, Ind., according to a statement from the Lake County, Ind. coroner’s office.

Deloney-Cain suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma to the head, according to the coroner’s office.
