DALLAS - Dallas police have made an arrest for a fatal shooting and crash in Oak Lawn.

Deric Madison, 24, was arrested Monday night.

Police believe he met Joshua Tubbleville on the night of May 30. The two struck up a conversation and Tubbleville invited him over for drinks and a game of dominoes.

He also offered to give Madison a ride home. That's when police said Madison robbed and shot Tubbleville.

Surveillance video shows a young black male that resembles Madison running from the scene after Tubbleville crashed his Mercedes into tree at the intersection of Oak Lawn and Lemmon avenues.

The 33-year-old died at the hospital.

Police said investigators found Madison's prints and DNA in Tubbleville's home and at the scene of the crime. A witness also positively ID him as the person who joined the dominoes game.

He is now charged with capital murder.

He does have a criminal history that includes assault and theft. Madison also has a longtime girlfriend, a 2-year-old son and a good job.

The man who raised Madison, his grandfather, says a crime like this isn't in his grandson's character. He also says Madison called him from jail Tuesday morning insisting he didn't commit the crime.
