Finally – after decades of talk –a Dallas Area Rapid Transit train will pull into DFW Airport.
Light rail service to and from the airport begins on August 18. The construction is being completed four months ahead of schedule and under budget.
Passengers can take the Orange Line into Terminal A and from there get to other terminals using the airport tram.
"It will put Dallas and DFW really at a whole new level. When we open customer service on the 18th of August, DFW Airport becomes the third largest American airport with light rail service. That's something you can't do in Los Angeles for example. It's something you can't do at La Guardia Airport out of New York," said Morgan Lyons, a DART spokesman.
The cost of a ride is $2.50 including transfers.
DART expects about 1,000 people per day to use the new service.
