Worker killed in Haltom City partial building collapse

Posted: Updated:
One man was killed and two others were injured when part of the upper level of an industrial building in Haltom City collapsed.

It happened around 9 a.m. Thursday at the old Hawk Electronic building on Airport Freeway.

Haltom City officials said the building was being renovated. Part of the 2-inch concrete and steel reinforced second floor fell, trapping workers below.

"Approximately a quarter of the second floor roof and side had collapsed in what's called a slant collapse where one end is still attached and the other end had dropped down," said Deputy Fire Chief Fred Napp.

The victim died at the scene. The two injured workers refused medical treatment.

Crews worked to stabilize the building.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
