Dallas woman goes on trial for allegedly starving stepson

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS - A Dallas woman goes on trial this week for the starvation death of her stepson.

The body of 10-year-old Jonathan Ramsey was found two years ago in a rural creek in Ellis County, south of Dallas.

According to police records, Aaron and Elizabeth Ramsey confessed to limiting their son's meals to bread, water and sometimes milk, and confining him to his bedroom. He eventually stopped being able to walk and began to eat his own feces.

Aaron Ramsey told detectives he found his son dead in August 2011. He changed him into his favorite t-shirt, placed him in a sleeping bag and inserted a dryer sheet to mask the smell, the records said.

The boy's father was found guilty of injury to a child and is serving a life sentence in prison.

Elizabeth Ramsey is also charged with injury to a child.

Jury selection for her trial is set to begin on Monday.
