Party bus driver charged with DUI after leaving passengers stranded

Posted: Updated:

The driver of a party bus is in jail charged with DUI after he left his passengers stranded, and later slammed into a utility pole.

According to a police report, the people rented through a company called “Party Bus Kings.” At about 2:00 a.m. the group had finished hanging out at a restaurant and came out to return to the bus. The report says when they came out, the bus driver looked at them and didn’t allow them to enter the bus and drove off.

Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon says "they were literally left high and dry."

Tremayne Williams is the owner of the bus and privately contracted Brandon Smith to drive the bus.

Police later found Smith and the bus after he slammed into a utility pole, a street sign, a car and a tree. Smith has a number of charges against him including DUI.

Sgt. Lyon says there are dozens of bus operations that cater to groups who want a night out on the town, but he's never heard of anything like this happening.
