CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
“It’s unbelievable how much you don’t know about the game you’ve been playing all your life,” Mickey Mantle said about baseball - and it is true on all accounts.
At this very moment, the Chicago Cubs are standing in dead last place in their division while the city is torn apart by the plans to improve a park that’s seen better days.
But there’s one part of this organization that is working. While he may have been met with a vicious blacklash of criticism, he doesn’t really care what you think.
When Clark the Cub was debuted in January at the Cubs Convention, initial reaction was less than thrilled. Social media around Chicago lit up with fiery fan debate about the organization’s new kid-friendly mascot.
But head on over to Clark’s Cubhouse in Wrigley on any given game day and you’ll find a seemingly endless line out the door of the next generation of fans waiting to meet the big bear himself – proving that Clark has gotten the last laugh…though, still no pants.
But why is Clark so popular?!
FOX 32's Jake Hamilton went to the one source who would have them - Clark. But he wasn’t talking.
In the end, maybe it doesn’t matter, all those faces don’t care that the Cubs are in last place or that Wrigley Field is falling apart - they’re just happy to be there.
