Elderly Robbery Victim Shoots At News Crew

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT, MI- A Detroit news crew had a close call when a man opens fire on them during a house visit.

It happened Monday when WXYZ, a Detroit ABC affiliate, went to the home of an 88-year-old man to investigate a robbery.

The elderly man was allegedly tied up last week and robbed of $600 in cash, his wallet and his cell phone.

A couple of stations went to talk to him about it, but because of fear that someone would set him up and hurt him, he wouldn't open the door.

Finally, he had enough. And fox's WJBK, who talked to the man earlier, witnessed the man firing a shot out to his porch at WXYZ.

In the video above you can see the WXYZ crew trying to convince the man to talk to them just before the shots were fired.

They then hid behind a tree and called police.

The man was arrested, but was reportedly taken to a crisis center for counseling and evaluation.

It's not clear if he will face any charges.

Meanwhile, the three robbers are still at large.
