Motorcyclist killed in Dallas hit-and-run

Posted: Updated:
Dallas police found the van on Wednesday night that they believe was used in a hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcycle driver, but they're still looking for the van's driver.

The crash happened in the middle of the intersection at Walnut Hill Lane and Brockbank Drive on Wednesday afternoon.

Dallas police say the motorcycle was going eastbound on Walnut Hill Lane as a van was heading westbound. The van then reportedly turned left onto Brockbank in front of the motorcycle.

A witness says the motorcycle driver tried to slide underneath, but was hit head on and thrown from the bike into the middle of the intersection.

Witnesses say he was wearing a helmet and nearby neighbors ran to his aid before paramedics tried to revive him.

Accident investigators took pictures of the bike and the debris, but witnesses told police the van drove down Brockbank into an apartment complex 100 yards away.

Immediately, police staked out the parking lot and found the abandoned van with its driver’s door left open. It was towed it away.

While police listed the suspect's van as a 2001 Chevy, an officer on scene told FOX 4 that the van that was towed away is a different make and model and is related to the hit-and-run.

It will be processed for fingerprints and other evidence.

The medical examiner's office identified the victim as 27-year old man Kristopher Wayne Stroman.
