Suspect accused of shooting at Dallas cops charged

Posted: Updated:
Dallas police have arrested a man whom they say shot at officers during a recent traffic stop.

Everardo Trevino, 33, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.

He’s being held on a $200,000 bond.

Police say Trevino was the passenger inside a car that they pulled over on Llewellyn Avenue last week.

According to investigators, Trevino told police he shot at the two officers to avoid being arrested again. However, he was not wanted on any warrants at the time.

One of the 10 shots police say were fired went through the driver's side windshield of a Dallas Police Department squad car, but the officers involved were not hurt.

The car broke down while police tried to chase Trevino and the driver, whom police are still looking for.

Police say a witness gave them Trevino's name.
