DALLAS -

A 19-year-old man was killed in a fiery accident just north of Downtown Dallas.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. on the southbound Central Expressway service road at Lovers Lane.

Police said the teen was driving south on the freeway and bumped a car somewhere between Caruth Haven Lane and Northwest Highway.

He didn’t stop, instead took the Lovers Lane exit and tried to turn left. That’s when police said he lost control of his Jeep, hit a pole and the SUV burst into flames.

A neighbor heard what sounded like an explosion. He ran outside, but said it was too late to help.

“I came running up. I saw this thing completely engulfed in flames. Some guy was running around screaming, ‘Somebody’s in there.’ By that time people were around and it was completely engulfed in flames and that was it,” said Christopher Bassard.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
